The heads of the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Israel attended an event in Astana dedicated to the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust. The day was established by a United Nations General Assembly resolution in 2005 and serves as a global reminder of the importance of historical memory, tolerance, and the prevention of crimes against humanity, DKNews.kz reports.

The participation of senior diplomats in the commemorative event underscored not only respect for historical memory, but also the broader values that underpin modern international dialogue.

High-level talks in Astana

As part of an official visit, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yermek Kosherbayev held talks with Israel’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar. The meeting focused on both the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation.

The sides discussed the development of political dialogue, trade, economic and investment ties, as well as cooperation in tourism. Attention was also given to exchanging experience in science, education, and healthcare — areas seen as increasingly important for long-term partnership.

A key topic of discussion was technology transfer and the expansion of practical cooperation between relevant government agencies and business communities in both countries. Officials emphasized the need to move beyond dialogue toward concrete projects with real economic and social impact.

Political consultations and regional agenda

During the visit, the two countries held the 12th round of political consultations between their foreign ministries. These consultations covered a wide range of international and regional issues.

Special focus was placed on initiatives aimed at promoting peaceful settlement and confidence-building in the Middle East. In this context, the sides exchanged views on Kazakhstan’s participation in the activities of the Gaza Board of Peace, as well as potential cooperation within the framework of the Abraham Accords.

Kazakhstan’s role as a dialogue partner

Observers note that Kazakhstan continues to position itself as a balanced and constructive participant in international affairs. Astana has consistently sought to provide platforms for dialogue on complex regional and global challenges, reinforcing its reputation as a reliable and pragmatic partner.

Combining commemorative diplomacy with substantive political discussions reflects Kazakhstan’s approach of linking historical responsibility with contemporary international engagement.

Looking ahead

At the conclusion of the visit, both sides reaffirmed their interest in further strengthening bilateral relations. Political dialogue, economic cooperation, technology exchange, and humanitarian ties are expected to remain central to the Kazakhstan–Israel partnership in the coming years.
