Kazakhstan shared its approach to human rights protection and political reform at the 3rd Forum of Parliamentary Committees on Legal Issues, where Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Romania Yerlik Ali addressed participants from several European and regional parliaments.
While the forum focused on legal cooperation, the Kazakh delegation used the platform to highlight how the country is responding to social challenges and reshaping its political system, DKNews.kz reports.

Domestic violence in focus
A central theme of the ambassador’s speech was the prevention and combating of domestic and family violence. Yerlik Ali stressed that the issue remains a top priority for Kazakhstan’s state authorities.
According to the ambassador, comprehensive measures are being implemented, including improvements to legislation, strengthening institutional mechanisms to protect victims, and expanding preventive and social support programs. The emphasis, he noted, is not only on punishment, but on prevention and long-term social change.
Political and legal reforms underway
Beyond human rights, the Kazakh diplomat outlined the broader political and legal reforms currently underway in the country. These include the transformation of the parliamentary system and changes to Kazakhstan’s constitutional and legal framework.
During the discussions, it was underlined that Kazakhstan has entered a new phase of political modernization. This process is driven by a package of constitutional and parliamentary reforms initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and discussed publicly at the National Kurultai.
National Kurultai as a platform for dialogue
Special attention was given to the role of the National Kurultai, which was described as an effective platform for public dialogue. The forum enables citizens to participate in discussions on strategic reforms and legislative initiatives.
According to the Kazakh side, this inclusive format contributes to the modernization of public administration and helps strengthen political stability by ensuring broader public involvement in decision-making.

Growing interest from international partners
The presentation by the Kazakh delegation sparked interest among forum participants and contributed to the exchange of experience in legal development, parliamentary reform, and international cooperation in the field of human rights protection.
Such dialogue, participants noted, is particularly important as countries face similar legal and institutional challenges despite differing national contexts.
Who took part in the forum
The 3rd annual forum brought together delegations from parliamentary legal committees of Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, and Albania. Representatives of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Georgia also took part as invited guests.
The event was held through plenary sessions and thematic panel discussions, allowing participants to share national experiences and develop common approaches to pressing legal issues. At the conclusion of the forum, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of the rule of law and to continuing constructive interparliamentary dialogue.
