Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are taking a new, practical step toward deeper cooperation. In Dushanbe, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan Valikhan Torekhanov met with Tajikistan’s Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population, Jamolidin Abdullozoda, to discuss concrete ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in healthcare, DKNews.kz reports.

While such meetings are often seen as routine diplomacy, this dialogue focused on issues with real impact - from professional training for doctors to the introduction of modern medical technologies and joint projects that directly affect patient care.

Days of Kazakh Medicine and Professional Exchange

One of the key topics of the talks was the idea of holding Days of Kazakh Medicine in Tajikistan. This initiative is expected to go beyond ceremonial events and create a platform for practical interaction among medical professionals. Doctors would be able to exchange clinical experience, present modern diagnostic and treatment methods, and discuss complex cases from daily medical practice.

The two sides also emphasized the importance of expanding direct cooperation between medical institutions in both countries. This could include joint programs, internships, and exchanges of specialists, allowing best practices to be adapted to national healthcare systems.

Medical Training as a Strategic Priority

Special attention was given to the professional development of medical personnel. In a rapidly evolving medical landscape, human capital remains the backbone of any healthcare system.

In this context, the sides welcomed the signing of the Cooperation Plan for 2026–2027 between the relevant authorities of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. The document aims to expand collaboration in public health, promote the introduction of modern medical technologies, and systematically strengthen workforce capacity.

This plan marks a shift from individual initiatives to structured, long-term cooperation.

A New Legal Framework for Partnership

A separate and important item on the agenda was the discussion of preparations for signing an agreement between the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan on cooperation in healthcare.

The signing of this agreement is expected to establish a solid legal framework for further deepening the partnership and implementing joint projects, including educational programs, innovation in medical practice, and broader institutional cooperation.

Dialogue Focused on Results

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed strong interest in further strengthening bilateral cooperation and confirmed their readiness to continue an active and constructive dialogue in the interests of developing the healthcare systems of both countries.

In the face of global challenges - from workforce shortages to increasing pressure on health systems - such partnerships are becoming increasingly valuable. The talks in Dushanbe demonstrate that cooperation between Astana and Dushanbe in healthcare is moving beyond formal statements toward practical solutions that benefit both doctors and patients.
