Volkswagen is returning to Kazakhstan with seven models at once. Official sales of Volkswagen and Jetta vehicles will begin on August 27, with prices ranging from KZT 8.99 million to KZT 25.63 million. At the initial stage, the official dealer and service network will cover seven cities across the country, DKNews.kz reports.

The national launch is being handled by Orbis Auto Automotive Group. Buyers in Kazakhstan will be offered four Volkswagen models — Bora, Passat, Tayron and Talagon — along with three Jetta models: VA7, VS7 and VS8. Jetta will occupy the more affordable end of the new lineup.

Jetta Models Will Stay Below KZT 11 Million

The most affordable of the seven models is the Jetta VA7, starting at KZT 8.99 million.

Built on the MQB platform, the sedan is powered by a 150 hp 1.4 TSI engine paired with a seven-speed DSG transmission. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds. Claimed fuel consumption is 5.87 liters per 100 km under the WLTC cycle, while trunk capacity stands at 553 liters.

The VA7 will be available in Kazakhstan in Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trims. Even the entry-level version comes with six airbags and a 12.9-inch multimedia display.

Next in the range is the Jetta VS7, priced from KZT 9.85 million. The five-seat crossover uses the same 150 hp 1.4 TSI engine, but pairs it with a six-speed Aisin automatic transmission. Cargo capacity is 548 liters.

The Comfortline version already includes a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera system, while Highline adds adaptive cruise control and Front Assist.

The flagship of the Jetta range, the VS8, starts at KZT 11 million. It features a 14.6-inch central display and offers 654 liters of luggage space. Claimed WLTC fuel consumption is 6.95 liters per 100 km.

As a result, all three Jetta models are positioned below the least expensive Volkswagen in the lineup.

Volkswagen Bora Starts at KZT 12.9 Million

The most affordable Volkswagen-badged model is the Bora, priced from KZT 12.9 million.

The 4.81-meter sedan is powered by a 160 hp 1.5 TSI engine with a seven-speed DSG transmission. It reaches 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds, while claimed fuel consumption under the NEDC cycle is 5.7 liters per 100 km.

Even the Trendline trim includes a panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, 17-inch wheels, a heated steering wheel and front seats, keyless entry and a 12.9-inch multimedia screen.

In Comfortline, the number of airbags rises from six to nine. The driver-assistance package includes adaptive cruise control, Front Assist, Side Assist and Pre-Crash.

Tayron Gets 4MOTION from the R-Line Trim

The Volkswagen Tayron crossover will start at KZT 16.99 million.

All three versions — Comfortline, R-Line and R-Line Plus — use a 220 hp 2.0 TSI engine paired with a seven-speed DSG transmission.

The entry-level Comfortline is front-wheel drive, while the R-Line and R-Line Plus versions come with Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system.

The front-wheel-drive Tayron accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive versions take 7.4 seconds. Cargo capacity is 455 liters.

All trims feature a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch wheels, IQ.Light matrix headlights, a digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch central display.

Passat Returns to Kazakhstan from KZT 19 Million

One of Volkswagen’s best-known nameplates, the Passat, will be priced from KZT 19 million in Kazakhstan.

Comfortline and Highline versions will be offered with a 220 hp 2.0 TSI engine, a seven-speed DSG and front-wheel drive. The sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

Equipment includes IQ.Light matrix headlights, a 15-inch 2K central display, a head-up display, three-zone climate control, heated front and rear seats, and ventilated front seats.

The Highline trim adds rear-seat ventilation and a massage function for both front and rear seats.

Talagon Tops the Range at KZT 25.63 Million

The most expensive vehicle in the initial lineup is the Volkswagen Talagon, starting at KZT 25.63 million.

The full-size crossover is more than five meters long and comes with a 272 hp 2.0 TSI engine and all-wheel drive. It reaches 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

Comfortline offers a seven-seat 2-3-2 layout, while the R-Line version has a six-seat 2-2-2 configuration with individual second-row captain’s chairs.

With the third row in use, the trunk holds 350 liters. Folding the rear seats increases capacity to 877 liters in the seven-seat version and up to 939 liters in the six-seat model.

Equipment includes 21-inch wheels, three-zone climate control, a panoramic roof and, depending on trim, up to 10 airbags.

The gap between the entry-level Jetta VA7 and the most expensive Volkswagen Talagon is KZT 16.64 million. In effect, Volkswagen and Jetta are entering several price and size segments of Kazakhstan’s car market at the same time.

Vehicles Are Built at FAW-Volkswagen Plants

All seven models destined for Kazakhstan are produced at FAW-Volkswagen manufacturing facilities integrated into Volkswagen’s global production system.

According to the company, common standards cover the full production cycle — from component selection and supplier management to vehicle assembly and final inspection. The Formel Q corporate system is used to assess production quality and supplier processes.

“Regardless of the country in which our vehicles are produced, Volkswagen does not compromise on its core values of safety, quality and reliability. Every model complies with more than 8,000 engineering standards and undergoes over 2,500 rigorous tests,” said Dr. Robert Cisek, CEO of Volkswagen Brand China.

The company says engines and transmissions undergo durability testing for up to 28,450 hours. Suspension components and subframes are tested under simulated loads equivalent to as much as 300,000 km, while total mileage accumulated during climate testing exceeds 1 million km.

Equipment Was Adapted for Kazakhstan

In preparing the models for the local market, Volkswagen and Orbis Auto took into account Kazakhstan’s climate, road conditions and common driving scenarios.

The vehicles are equipped with heated front and rear seats as well as heated steering wheels. Additional FM antennas have also been installed to improve radio reception.

All seven models have completed the certification required for official sale in Kazakhstan.

“When shaping the initial lineup, we focused on real driving conditions in Kazakhstan — from everyday urban trips to long-distance travel and seasonal temperature changes,” said Roman Kuzmin, Director of Volkswagen and Jetta Distribution in Kazakhstan.

Eight Centers Will Operate Across Seven Cities

Volkswagen’s return to Kazakhstan will be accompanied by the expansion of its official service infrastructure.

At the first stage, the Volkswagen and Jetta network will include eight dealer and service centers in seven cities.

Two will operate in Almaty, with one each in Astana, Shymkent, Kostanay, Uralsk, Aktau and Atyrau.

“For Orbis Auto, the national launch is not simply a resumption of sales, but an investment in Volkswagen’s long-term presence in Kazakhstan,” said Dinara Iskakova, CEO of Orbis Auto Automotive Group.

All officially supplied Volkswagen and Jetta vehicles will carry a factory warranty of three years or 100,000 km, whichever comes first.

The warranty against perforation corrosion is three years for the Jetta VA7, VS7 and VS8, six years for the Volkswagen Bora and Tayron, and 12 years for the Passat and Talagon.

By 2030, Orbis Auto plans to expand the official Volkswagen and Jetta network to 22 centers. The company also intends to develop service infrastructure, maintain stable supplies of genuine spare parts and gradually broaden the model range.

DKNews.kz previously reported on Volkswagen’s first shipment of new vehicles to Kazakhstan and the changes made to the cars before their local market launch.

From August 27, the official lineup will have two clear price points at either end: the Jetta VA7 from KZT 8.99 million and the Volkswagen Talagon from KZT 25.63 million.
