Citizens abroad can vote too. In Prague, Kazakhstanis studying and working in Czechia were briefed on the upcoming Kurultai elections and encouraged to exercise their constitutional right, DKNews.kz reports.

The meeting was organized by representatives of the Embassy of Kazakhstan. The main topics included the implementation of constitutional reform, improvements to the system of public administration, and the formation of the country’s new highest representative body — the Kurultai.

Kazakhstanis in Czechia briefed on the significance of the elections

Diplomats provided participants with information about the upcoming elections of Kurultai deputies and their role in the continued implementation of constitutional reforms.

The meeting was held in an open discussion format. Kazakh citizens studying and working in Czechia exchanged views on current issues related to the country’s social and political development.

Special attention was given to how the formation of the new representative body is connected with the next stage of constitutional reform.

The new Constitution became one of the key topics

Participants were also briefed on the main provisions of the new Constitution.

The discussion focused on provisions aimed at developing the political system, strengthening representative institutions, and expanding citizens’ participation in public life.

For Kazakhstanis living abroad, this has a practical dimension: studying or working in another country does not exclude citizens from Kazakhstan’s political processes.

Young people encouraged to participate actively in public life

The role of young people received particular attention during the meeting.

Embassy representatives emphasized the importance of youth in Kazakhstan’s social and political life and called on citizens abroad to take an active part in the elections.

In Prague, the message was aimed in particular at those currently studying or building their careers in Czechia while retaining their political rights as citizens of Kazakhstan.

This means that outreach around the Kurultai elections is extending beyond Kazakhstan itself and reaching Kazakh communities abroad.

Similar meetings are being held in other countries

Engagement with Kazakhstanis abroad ahead of the elections is not limited to Czechia.

A few days ago, we reported on a meeting with Kazakh students in Finland, where the Kurultai elections and political reforms were also discussed.

The main message in Prague was clear: Kazakh citizens living abroad were encouraged to exercise their constitutional right and take part in the vote.
