Kazakhstan is stepping up its dialogue with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The latest round of talks focused on artificial intelligence technologies, software solutions, transport, agriculture and industrial cooperation, DKNews.kz reports.
With the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Ethiopia, the second round of online talks was held between the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Foreign Trade of the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the level of senior officials. Representatives of other interested government agencies from both countries also took part.
Kazakhstan ready to share its AI expertise
One of the most notable areas discussed was the potential transfer of Kazakh technologies and expertise.
The parties explored prospects for applying Kazakhstan’s experience in the development of artificial intelligence and software solutions. This broadens the bilateral economic agenda: alongside trade and investment, technological cooperation is emerging as a separate area of engagement.
No specific platforms, companies or projects were announced following the second round. For now, the parties are identifying areas that could become the subject of more detailed negotiations.

Logistics and agriculture join the agenda
Transport and logistics formed another major part of the talks.
Kazakhstan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo also discussed possible cooperation in agriculture and industrial production. As a result, the dialogue now covers several areas, ranging from software solutions to infrastructure and manufacturing.
Trade, economic ties and investment cooperation were also discussed separately. Details of possible agreements, investment volumes and timelines for future projects have not yet been disclosed.
Talks could move to a higher political level
This was not the first contact between the two countries. The latest meeting marked the second round of negotiations between the relevant government agencies of Kazakhstan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Following the talks, the heads of the two delegations agreed to maintain an active dialogue. The next stage may involve broader delegations from both Kazakhstan and the DR Congo.
The parties are also considering continuing contacts at a higher political level. This does not yet mean that specific deals have been reached, but it does indicate a shift from individual meetings toward a more structured negotiation process.
Kazakhstan broadens its economic engagement in Africa
For Kazakhstan, negotiations with the DR Congo add another dimension to its economic engagement with African countries. In this dialogue, Kazakhstan is positioning itself not only as a potential trading partner, but also as a country able to offer expertise in technology, digital solutions, logistics and agriculture.
The next round is expected to involve expanded delegations. It should provide a clearer picture of which areas — artificial intelligence, logistics, agriculture or industrial cooperation — could move toward concrete joint projects.
