Chairperson of the Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship of the Senate Serik Dzhaxybekov and Committee Member Manap Kubenov visited a number of enterprises in Almaty as part of preparation for the Parliamentary Hearings on the topic Light Industry of Kazakhstan: Current State and Development Prospects of High Performance Business.
The first facility visited by Senators was KazSPO-N LLP clothing factory producing outerwear under Zibroo brand and the headwear sewing enterprise EleGant.
During a visit to the KazSPO-N factory, a supplier of sportswear for Olympic and Paralympic national teams of Kazakhstan, the deputies had a look at the training process based on the KazSPO-N’s own sewing school. The Senators emphasized the need for a wider use of domestic raw materials in clothing manufacture.
Besides, at the enterprises of Zhetyssu JSC and Almaty Tannery+ LLP, the deputies watched the process of footwear manufacturing and cowhide processing into finished products, semi-finished chrome tanning Wetblue, Crust leather and finished leather. The management of the tannery said to the deputies that the domestic enterprises were ready to satisfy the demand of footwear manufacturers for high-quality leather. According to the tanners, they had a problem with the quality of the raw materials supplied, namely cowhides, which often came with defects, which increased the percentage of unused material.
At the end of the visit, the deputies of the Upper House of the Parliament visited the textile factory of Universal Reklama RA LLP, where they discussed the issues of development of light industry with entrepreneurs of Almaty. During the discussion, Senator Serik Dzhaxybekov noted that business needed to concentrate on production of goods that were in demand among the general population, not focusing only on ensuring public procurement.
