Deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, led by the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defense and Security Ms. Aigul Kuspan took part in the work of the 144th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (March 20-24, Indonesia), Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
On the sidelines of the Assembly, the head of the Kazakh delegation met with a member of the House of Representatives of Indonesia, Chairman of the Committee for Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation, member of the Commission on Defense, Foreign and Information Affairs Mr. Fadli Zon.
Indonesia is one of Kazakhstan’s key partners in Southeast Asia. Traditionally, both countries have friendly and trusting relations. Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Indonesia. A. Kuspan noted that during these years an intensive political dialogue had been established between the two countries, a solid foundation had been laid for the further development of comprehensive cooperation. There was also emphasized the importance of building a systematic dialogue through the relevant committees and the Kazakhstani-Indonesian interparliamentary friendship group.
The representative of Kazakhstan thanked the Indonesian side for the hospitality and high level of organization of the Assembly, and also expressed hope for further strengthening partnership between Kazakhstan and Indonesia through joint efforts and mutual support of parliamentarians of the two countries. F. Zon thanked the Kazakhstani delegation for participating in the Assembly and expressed readiness to work on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
This is not the first meeting of Kazakhstani and Indonesian parliamentarians. In 2019, F. Zon visited the Kazakh land in order to participate in a Meeting of Speakers of Eurasian Countries’ Parliaments, leaving the warmest memories of his visit.
