Mr. Yerlan Alimbayev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN Office and other International Organizations in Geneva held a meeting with Ms. Olga Algayerova, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) to discuss current and future issues of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UNECE, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
During the meeting, the Permanent Representative Alimbayev informed the Executive Secretary about the political and social reforms carried out by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, including plans to introduce appropriate changes to the Constitution of the country.
A special attention was paid to strengthening the mandate of the UN Special Program for the Economies of the Countries of Central Asia (SPECA) and deepening regional cooperation, including within the framework of the current chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in SPECA.
In addition, current and prospective projects within the framework of UNECE technical cooperation with the participation of Kazakhstan were discussed. Ambassador Alimbaev emphasized the importance of Kazakhstan's participation in these projects in order to introduce advanced standards and practices developed by the UNECE in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In turn, Olga Algayerova expressed gratitude for the active participation of Kazakhstan in the work of the UNECE and support for various initiatives of the Organization.
