On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh writer, playwright and scientist Mukhtar Auezov, as well as the creation of the Kazakh-Chilean Friendship Society, a scientific and practical conference was held on the topic «The voice of Kazakh literature in Latin America». The initiators of this event were the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Brazil and concurrently in Chile, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
At the beginning of the conference, a documentary film in English was shown about the life and work of Mukhtar Auezov, his contribution to the development of Kazakh literature.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Brazil and concurrently to Chile Bolat Nussupov, the Ambassador of Chile to Kazakhstan Eduardo Escobar Marin, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Chile Andres Rebolledo, as well as experts and representatives of higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and Chile.
Opening the conference, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan Bolat Nussupov outlined the outstanding role of Mukhtar Auezov's work in the development of world literature, his contribution to the popularization of the history of Kazakhstan, Kazakh culture and advanced ideals based on universal values and the paradigm of the Kazakh people.
Doctor of the Kazakh National University «Al-Farabi» Kutluk Sultanbek in his presentation emphasized that the founder of Abay studies, as a separate literary science, is the outstanding Kazakh writer Mukhtar Auezov. His epic novel «The Way of Abai» opened to the whole world the invaluable creative and spiritual heritage of the great Kazakh thinker, who entered the Library of World Literature and was translated into 116 languages of the world, including in Brazil.
Representatives of the University of Valparaiso, Prof. Yana Strobach and Dr. Carmen Gloria Osorio, also made presentations. In general, the Chilean participants of the conference showed great interest in the works of M. Auezov, who achieved recognized success in his work and became the founder of the dramatic trend in the literature of the Kazakh people. In their opinion, the opportunity to study Kazakh literature as one of the representatives of the Turkic language group will make a high contribution to the broad study of Kazakhstan and other countries of the region.
In the context of the creation of the Friendship Society, the parties stressed that this institution will allow the Chilean audience to get acquainted with the history, traditions and culture of Kazakhstan, as well as give a new impetus to the entire spectrum of bilateral relations. In addition, the Society will contribute to greater recognition of Chile in Kazakhstan through the implementation of joint projects. At the end of the conference, performed by Chilean participants, Kazakh musical works on dombra were presented.
