First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Umarov received the Head of the Mission of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Kazakhstan François Blancy on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission in our country, as well as the new head of the Mission Željko Ležaja, DKNews.kz reports.
Umarov expressed his gratitude to Blancy for his work and close interaction with the Foreign Ministry and government bodies of the country in the implementation of various projects, workshops and seminars. In particular, a high assessment were given to the activities of the ICRC in promoting the norms of international humanitarian law and their application in the work of government bodies, taking into account the active international and regional role of Kazakhstan. The Kazakh diplomat assured the new head of the ICRC mission of his readiness to develop further fruitful cooperation and provide the necessary support in joint work.
The parties discussed the Cooperation Plan for the current year and expressed mutual interest in the successful implementation of projects and events, noting the importance of further cooperation both in Kazakhstan and at the regional level.
The International Committee of the Red Cross is a neutral and independent non-governmental organization whose main goal is to assist to victims of war, violence and humanitarian disasters around the world.
The ICRC has been operating in the Central Asian countries since 1992. The Regional Office of the ICRC in Central Asia is located in Tashkent. In July 2019, the ICRC Mission were opened in Kazakhstan.
