The opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in one of the oldest cities of Georgia - Gori with the consular district in the historical-geographical region of Shida Kartli took place, DKNews.kz reports.
Ambassador of Kazakhstan Malik Murzalin in his congratulatory speech noted that this appointment is yet another evidence of the high level of Kazakhstan-Georgian relations and maintaining the course for their strengthening.
"In this process, the Honorary Consul is assigned an important role, first of all in the development of business, cultural, humanitarian, sports and tourist relations. The priority, certainly, should be given to assistance to Kazakh citizens and representation of their interests in Georgia, holding various joint events" Malik Murzalin
In his speech, the Governor of the Shida Kartli region, Mikheil Shakulashvili, thanked the Kazakh side for the decision to open an Honorary Consulate in the capital of his region in Gori. He stated that the institution will help expand economic cooperation, investments, development of tourism and scientific and cultural exchange between the regions and cities of the two republics.
This is the fourth Honorary Consulate of Kazakhstan in Georgia. The famous Georgian entrepreneur Irakli Kakaladze, who lived in Karaganda for a long time, was appointed Honorary Consul in Gori.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the executive authority, academic and business circles of the region of Shida Kartli.
