Fraternal peoples: Kazakhstan and Hungary deepen cooperation on the world stage

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's program of bilateral talks on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly kicked off with a meeting with Hungarian President Katalin Novak, DKNews.kz reports.

The Kazakh leader noted that the brotherly nations have established a strategic partnership based on strong historical and cultural ties. The Head of State highly appreciated Hungary’s active stance and valuable contribution toward strengthening Turkic cooperation.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that in November this year Kazakhstan will host the 10th anniversary summit of the Organization of Turkic States and anticipates the participation of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the event.

I would like to point out that we have close cooperation with Hungary. We have very strong traditional ties and relations. We appreciate what we have achieved in our bilateral cooperation. I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to visit Kazakhstan. We are also looking forward to meeting with your Prime Minister, Mr. Orban, who will attend the summit of Turkic-speaking countries. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev

During the talks, the parties discussed trade and economic issues, investment, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The Head of State said that in order to strengthen ties between the countries, one a street in Astana will be named in honor of the national poet of Hungary, Sándor Petőfi.

Both Presidents noted the importance of taking joint measures to increase mutual trade turnover between the countries and activate bilateral cooperation mechanisms.

The sides also exchanged views on international issues, including on improving the work of multilateral institutions to ensure global stability and sustainable development.
