Kazakhstan and the UN: The Foreign Minister held a number of bilateral meetings

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a meeting with the UN High Representative for Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Rabab Fatima in the framework of the UN General Assembly, DKnews.kz reports.

During the meeting, the Kazakh Foreign Minister noted Kazakhstan’s continued support for landlocked developing countries (LLDCs), including on the basis of its own experience. In this context, it was noted that the First UN Conference on LLDCs was held in 2003 in Almaty, where the first ten-year Almaty Program of Action was adopted to address the special needs of LLDCs.

In turn, High Representative Fatima expressed gratitude for Kazakhstan’s contribution to the preparation of the upcoming the Third UN Conference on LLDCs to be held in Gaborone (Botswana) in December this year.

On the margins of the UNGA, Minister Nurtleu also held bilateral meetings with Prime Minister of Croatia Andrej Plenković and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of Kazakhstan’s cooperation with these countries and exchanged views on regional and global agendas. It was agreed to continue developing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

In addition, Kazakhstan and Sierra Leone signed an Agreement on Exemption from Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports.
