A workshop held in Almaty showcased the innovative Eye Tracker technology designed for individuals unable to communicate verbally. This event was organized by the Territory of Success public association as part of the Alem Connect inclusive project, DKnews.kz reports.
Previously, FlyArystan provided financial support to the Territory of Success, a rehabilitation center for individuals with disabilities. The funds were used to purchase eye trackers – devices that monitor eye movements, enabling users to control various digital services.
Richard Ledger, President of FlyArystan:
“FlyArystan is committed to sustaining initiatives under our corporate social responsibility framework. Supporting public projects that enhance the lives of people with disabilities is a key focus area for our airline. We are proud to contribute to creating an accessible and inclusive environment, where everyone has the opportunity to reach their potential. Our air company will continue to provide comprehensive support to people with special needs”.
With the eye tracker, users can type and voice text hands-free, communicate with others, and acquire knowledge and new skills. For children and adults with significant speech and motor impairments, this device serves as a vital "bridge" to full communication, offering a path to independence, productivity, and active participation in professional and social life.
Rymgul Utepova, Head of the Territory of Success Public Association:
"Today, we presented the final report on this significant project. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to FlyArystan for its support from the outset. It was the first organization to lend a helping hand for the Alem Connect initiative. As innovators in their sector, they believed in this pilot inclusive project, currently unique in Kazakhstan for children with speech impairments. To date, 67 children have tested and now successfully use the eye tracker to express their thoughts and feelings. As a mother of a child with special needs, I thank FlyArystan for providing our children the chance to be heard".
In addition to funding the eye tracker, the Kazakh low-cost airline supported the Territory of Success by donating airline tickets for the annual Arman Tenizi project, enabling the center to send children and their parents to Turkey for rehabilitation.
Recall that FlyArystan offers a 50% discount on flights within Kazakhstan for individuals with disabilities in Group 1, along with one accompanying person, as part of its Komek charity program. Passengers with disabilities are further entitled to transport up to 20 kilograms of baggage free of charge.
