The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Switzerland Organized an Online Exhibition Dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, DKnews.kz reports.
The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Switzerland is hosting an online exhibition to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War (Eastern Front of the Second World War). The exhibition is based on unique photographic materials provided by the Central State Archive of Film, Photographic Documents, and Sound Recordings of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The exhibition introduces the Swiss audience to the scale of Kazakhstan’s involvement in the war: 1.2 million people were mobilized to the front, and military divisions were formed that fought in key battles near Moscow, Stalingrad, and the Kursk Salient, as well as in the liberation of Europe and the storming of Berlin. Kazakhstan’s rear became a reliable support for the front: more than 200 defense enterprises were evacuated to the republic, and the production of strategically important materials was established. The main burden of labor during the war was borne by women and children.
Special attention in the exhibition is given to the heroism of Kazakhstani people, whose feats were recognized with high state awards. 528 people were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, four of whom were awarded the title twice. Among the exhibited photos are those of legendary heroes such as Talgat Begeldinov, Aliya Moldagulova, Baurzhan Momyshuly, and others.
It is also highlighted that the 80th anniversary celebrations in Kazakhstan are accompanied by a large-scale program, including over 2,000 events across the country. The culmination will be a military parade in Astana on May 7, with the participation of 4,500 military personnel. More than 42,000 veterans and front-line workers will be awarded the commemorative medal “80 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War” and a one-time payment of 5 million tenge.
The number of views of the exhibition continues to grow and has reached approximately 400 as of today.
