Asia’s largest trade platform just opened new doors - and Kazakhstan is stepping through them, DKnews.kz reports.

What do auto parts, electronics, textiles, and medical equipment have in common? They’re all thriving industries represented at the Canton Fair, China’s largest trade show held in Guangzhou, which has become much more than a business expo - it’s a global gateway. And now, Kazakhstani businesses are being invited to walk right through it.

That was the message delivered at the official presentation of the 138th Canton Fair, held at the InterContinental Hotel in Almaty. More than 100 participants - from entrepreneurs and government officials to media representatives - gathered to explore how Kazakhstan can step confidently onto the global trade stage. And they didn’t leave empty-handed: the event brought real contacts, clear numbers, and actionable strategies.

Not just a trade fair - a world of opportunity

Since launching in 1957, the Canton Fair has grown into a trade metropolis spanning 1.55 million square meters, attracting businesses from over 200 countries and regions. And Kazakhstan is no longer a newcomer to this scene.

According to Mr. Liu Xiaomin, Director of Exhibition Affairs at the China Foreign Trade Centre, the 137th Canton Fair saw more than 5,800 participants from 4,600 Kazakhstani companies - the highest figure among Central Asian countries. Kazakhstan is now viewed as a full-fledged partner, not just a guest.

Almaty to Guangzhou: A shorter path to global trade

The key takeaway from the presentation: China is serious about building practical, on-the-ground partnerships. The delegation didn’t just show up for a slideshow - they held meetings with the Almaty branch of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and visited major Kazakhstani retailers, including Galmart, Magnum, and Small, to better understand local consumer needs.

Air China representatives also highlighted the importance of direct flights between Almaty and Guangzhou, which make traveling to the fair both easy and efficient for Kazakhstani businesspeople.

Kazakhstan’s next move: Don’t just buy - start selling

Oleg Rudenko, Head of International Cooperation for Atameken in Almaty, emphasized that the Canton Fair presents an opportunity to change the narrative:

“We want Kazakhstani companies to participate not only as buyers, but also as suppliers. This presentation marks the beginning of a new chapter in our trade relations.”

Participation has never been easier

Attending a major international fair once meant mountains of paperwork and complicated logistics. Today, thanks to digital tools, it’s simpler than ever.

Via the official Canton Fair website or mobile app, businesses can:

  • Register in advance;
  • Browse product catalogs;
  • Receive formal invitations;
  • Plan their travel and booth visits.

Registration for the 138th session is already open, and for those still hesitating - now’s the time to act.

Real conversations. Real contacts. Real energy.

The event in Almaty felt like a mini fair itself: entrepreneurs exchanged business cards, browsed brochures, shared challenges and forged connections. Most importantly - the energy in the room was palpable.

“The products showcased at the Canton Fair align perfectly with the needs of the Kazakhstani market. Interest is growing, and we’re here to support that,” said Mr. Liu Xiaomin.

Why it matters - right now

While some are waiting for the “perfect time,” others are already sealing deals, sourcing suppliers, and expanding their reach. Attending the Canton Fair is not just a trip to China - it’s a strategic move that can:

  • Take your business mobility to the next level;
  • Connect you to global supply chains;
  • Open doors to new international markets;
  • And ultimately help you compete on the world stage.

Kazakhstan is already on the bridge - take the next step

The Canton Fair is a bridge. A bridge between countries, between companies, between cultures. Kazakhstan is already on it. The sooner our entrepreneurs take that next step, the sooner they’ll unlock a world of new opportunities.
