The “Science and Literature Corner of Kazakhstan” has officially opened at the Rami Library in Istanbul. The ceremony took place as part of the celebrations marking Kazakhstan’s Independence Day, DKNews.kz reports.

The initiative was launched by the “Gylym Ordasy” research institution with the support of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Istanbul and in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.

What the project aims to achieve

Its main goal is to deepen cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye, promote Kazakh literary and scientific heritage internationally and create a permanent knowledge space at the Rami Library dedicated to Kazakh literature and science.

Who attended the opening

The ceremony brought together:

  • representatives of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Istanbul
  • the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY)
  • TURKTAV Foundation for Turkic history and culture
  • leadership and specialists of Gylym Ordasy
  • Turkish scholars, cultural figures and educators
  • Kazakh students studying in Türkiye

500 books donated to the Rami Library

Within the framework of the event, Gylym Ordasy donated 500 books to the Rami Library.

The new corner features publications from the Central Scientific Library - works on Kazakh literature, history, culture, science and fiction.

Today, the library’s collection includes nearly 6 million rare manuscripts and academic publications, making it one of the largest scholarly book collections in Kazakhstan.

Why Rami Library matters

The historical complex, dating back to the 18th century, was restored and transformed into one of Türkiye’s most modern educational centers.

Today, Rami Library:

  • hosts major international cultural and academic events
  • develops innovative educational programs
  • operates in the spirit of a “living library” concept

Strengthening spiritual and cultural ties

Creating a dedicated space for Kazakh science and literature in such a symbolic venue is an important step toward strengthening cultural dialogue and raising cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye to a new level.
