Almaty is set to welcome a new international name to its coffee scene. The Coffee is officially entering the Kazakh market, opening its first café in Central Asia — and choosing Almaty as the starting point, DKNews.kz reports.
The grand opening is scheduled for January 17, 2026, in the very heart of the city’s so-called “golden square”, at 124/2 Nazarbayev Avenue.

Brazilian roots, Japanese inspiration
Founded in Brazil in 2018, The Coffee was created with a clear ambition: to rethink everyday coffee culture. Inspired by Japan’s to-go philosophy, the founders focused on minimalist design, fast and seamless service, and consistently high product quality.
The result was a compact, urban coffee format designed for people on the move — one that quickly resonated with customers far beyond its home market.
A truly global brand
In just five years, The Coffee has expanded to more than 25 countries across the Americas, Europe and Asia. The brand has opened over 300 cafés worldwide and now employs more than 1,500 people globally.
Its international footprint includes countries such as Portugal, France, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Chile, Thailand, the UAE and Canada. Entering Kazakhstan marks a new milestone — and the brand’s first step into Central Asia.
Why Almaty
The Almaty launch is being delivered in partnership with ATLAS Capital, an investment management firm supporting The Coffee’s market entry through its private-equity strategy focused on scalable international consumer brands.
Almaty was a natural choice. With its vibrant urban lifestyle, strong café culture and young, globally minded audience, the city offers fertile ground for a modern to-go coffee concept.
What’s on the menu
The first The Coffee location in Almaty will feature a mix of signature creations and espresso-based classics. Highlights include:
- Ichigo Matcha
- Pure Black
- True White
- Vanilla Latte
- Flat Caramel
Seasonal limited-edition drinks, along with pastries and light snacks designed to pair seamlessly with coffee, will also be available.
More than just a coffee shop
The Coffee positions itself not simply as a café, but as part of the city’s daily rhythm — a place for quick stops between meetings, on the way to work or during a busy day. The concept is intentionally minimal, efficient and design-driven, without sacrificing attention to detail.
Industry observers note that the brand’s arrival could intensify competition in Almaty’s growing to-go segment, where speed, aesthetics and brand philosophy are becoming just as important as the coffee itself.
A first step into Central Asia
The Almaty opening represents The Coffee’s debut in Central Asia and forms part of its broader international expansion strategy. If successful, further growth across Kazakhstan and the wider region is likely.
For Almaty, the arrival of The Coffee is another sign of the city’s rising profile on the global lifestyle map — where international brands increasingly see potential not only in food and fashion, but in everyday urban culture as well.
