Kazakhstan is presenting its literary and cultural heritage at one of Asia’s largest book events — the National Book Fair Delhi 2026, currently taking place in the Indian capital. The fair has become a major platform for introducing Kazakh literature to an international audience and strengthening cultural dialogue between countries, DKNews.kz reports.

The organization and coordination of Kazakhstan’s participation were carried out by the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in India, with the support of relevant governmental bodies, cultural institutions and publishing organizations from Kazakhstan.

From classical works to modern voices

As part of the fair, a National Book Corner of Kazakhstan was set up, offering visitors a broad overview of the country’s literary landscape. The exhibition features works of classical and contemporary Kazakh authors, as well as publications reflecting Kazakhstan’s history, culture and spiritual values.

The display allows international readers to explore Kazakhstan not only through fiction, but also through books that reveal the country’s identity, traditions and intellectual heritage.

Kazakh writers and scholars in international dialogue

Prominent representatives of Kazakhstan’s literary and academic community are taking part in the fair. Among them are Ainur Akhmetova, PhD, literary scholar and Leading Research Fellow at the M.O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art; Alisher Aituar, writer and playwright, Lecturer at the T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts; and Professor Sattar Mazhitov.

The program includes professional meetings, thematic discussions, interviews and book presentations focusing on the development of Kazakh literature and its place in the global cultural context.

Abai in Hindi draws special attention

One of the highlights of Kazakhstan’s participation was the presentation of “Words of Edification” by the great Kazakh poet and thinker Abai Kunanbayev, published in Hindi. The translation attracted significant interest from visitors and became a key cultural moment of the fair.

Presenting Abai’s philosophical work in Hindi marks an important step in promoting Kazakhstan’s literary and intellectual heritage in India and contributes to strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.

Strong interest from Indian readers

Throughout the fair, Indian readers have shown a high level of interest in Kazakh books, culture and Kazakhstan as a whole. Visitors actively engaged with the exhibition, asking about translations, authors and the country’s cultural background.

Literature as a tool of cultural diplomacy

Kazakhstan’s participation in the National Book Fair Delhi 2026 contributes to the international promotion of Kazakh literature, the development of intercultural diplomacy and the expansion of cooperation in publishing, translation and cultural exchange.

Through literature, Kazakhstan continues to build meaningful connections with global audiences, presenting itself as a country with a rich cultural tradition and a strong contemporary literary voice.
