An international seminar dedicated to the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage and the development of intercultural communication was held in Beijing. The event was organized by the National Association “Qazaq-Oner” with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in China and the Kazakhstan Cultural Center in Beijing, DKNews.kz reports.
The seminar became an important platform for cultural dialogue, bringing together artists, cultural figures, and experts from Kazakhstan and China to discuss how traditional heritage can be preserved and promoted in the modern world.

Kazakh cultural heritage at the center of discussion
The Kazakh delegation included Aigul Zhanserikova, President of the National Association “Qazaq-Oner” and IOV World representative in Kazakhstan, People’s Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aigul Kusanova, as well as cultural figures and specialists in traditional music and decorative and applied arts.
During the seminar, participants presented reports and multimedia presentations devoted to Kazakh folk music heritage, traditional forms of performing arts, and modern approaches to preserving and transmitting cultural traditions to future generations.

From tradition to modern cultural exchange
The discussions focused on international cooperation in the field of intangible cultural heritage and the role of specialized organizations in promoting traditional culture at the global level. Participants emphasized that intangible heritage is not only a reflection of history, but also a powerful tool for cultural diplomacy and mutual understanding between nations.
Experts noted that traditional music, oral art, and folk craftsmanship continue to play a vital role in strengthening cultural identity while fostering dialogue across cultures.

A step toward the Cross-Cultural Year 2026
The seminar was held in the context of preparations for the Cross-Cultural Year of Kazakhstan and China in 2026. Participants stressed that such initiatives lay the groundwork for future joint projects, festivals, creative exchanges, and educational programs.
Following the seminar, the participants expressed interest in further expanding cooperation, highlighting that the preservation of intangible cultural heritage serves as a bridge connecting peoples and strengthening trust and friendship between Kazakhstan and China.
