Nuclear Safety and Peaceful Atom: What Kazakhstan and Finland Agreed On

Kazakhstan and Finland have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in the field of nuclear and radiation safety. The issue was discussed during a meeting between Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Finland Azamat Abdraimov and Director General of the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK) Petteri Tiipana, DKNews.kz reports.

During the talks, the two sides reviewed the results of their cooperation over the past year and exchanged views on plans for joint work in 2026. Particular attention was paid to regulatory issues and the exchange of experience related to the peaceful use of atomic energy, an area where both countries see opportunities for deeper and more practical engagement.

The discussions also focused on prospects for expanding cooperation between the relevant agencies of Kazakhstan and Finland. This includes strengthening expert-level dialogue, sharing best practices and developing new formats for practical interaction.

Ambassador Abdraimov подчеркнул, that Kazakhstan is interested in deepening its partnership with STUK. He noted the importance of exchanging expertise, holding joint events and enhancing institutional cooperation to further improve national and international approaches to nuclear and radiation safety.

Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in further strengthening cooperation. They also agreed to maintain regular contacts and expressed readiness to continue interaction at the expert level.
