Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan continue to deepen political dialogue and expand parliamentary cooperation. The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, Beibut Atamkulov, held a meeting with Nuriddin Ismoilov, Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, DKNews.kz reports.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the current state and future prospects of inter-parliamentary cooperation, as well as the agenda of upcoming international events. Particular attention was paid to preparations for the next meeting of the Council of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation between the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan.

National Kurultai and Kazakhstan’s political reforms
A significant part of the discussion focused on political developments in Kazakhstan. Ambassador Atamkulov briefed the Uzbek side on the key outcomes of the fifth session of the National Kurultai, during which President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev presented new initiatives aimed at further advancing the country’s socio-political development.
The Ambassador also outlined the main points of the President’s recent interview with the Turkistan newspaper, highlighting Kazakhstan’s reform priorities and long-term vision.

Constitutional changes in focus
Beibut Atamkulov placed special emphasis on Kazakhstan’s constitutional reforms, describing them as systemic and forward-looking. In particular, he drew attention to initiatives related to:
- the establishment of a unicameral parliament
- the introduction of the Halyk Kenesi institution
- the creation of the position of Vice President of the Republic of Kazakhstan
According to the Ambassador, these reforms are designed to improve the efficiency of public administration and strengthen public participation in political decision-making.

Invitation to dialogue and exchange of experience
Taking into account the relatively recent reforms within the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the Kazakh diplomat invited Uzbek parliamentarians to take part in an upcoming roundtable at the Embassy of Kazakhstan. The event will be dedicated to discussing the outcomes of the National Kurultai and exchanging experiences on parliamentary transformation.
Uzbekistan’s response
Speaker Nuriddin Ismoilov highly praised President Tokayev’s address at the National Kurultai, noting the relevance and timeliness of the initiatives proposed.
He emphasized that Uzbekistan is closely following the reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan and expressed the readiness of deputies of the Legislative Chamber to participate in the planned roundtable.
Commitment to continued cooperation
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further cooperation aimed at strengthening Kazakh-Uzbek inter-parliamentary relations, underlining the importance of sustained dialogue for deepening mutual trust and partnership between the two countries.
