The “New Year Goods” Festival was held for the third time at the base of the Chinese company AiJu in the city of Xi’an. Ahead of the Chinese New Year, ten 40-foot containers loaded with food products from Kazakhstan’s North Kazakhstan region were delivered to the city, highlighting the growing presence of Kazakh goods on the Chinese market, DKNews.kz reports.

A platform for business and cooperation
The opening ceremony brought together representatives of the Shaanxi provincial government and the Xi’an municipal administration, customs and epidemiological authorities, certification and standardization bodies, major retail companies, public organizations, foreign diplomatic missions, and student associations from Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries. Local bloggers and media outlets were also invited to ensure broad coverage of the event.

Over the years, the festival has evolved into more than a promotional event, becoming a practical platform for establishing business ties and expanding trade cooperation.

Strengthening Kazakhstan–China economic ties
Speaking at the event, Kazakhstan’s Consul General in Xi’an, Zhoshykhan Kyraubaev, outlined the key areas of trade, economic, agricultural, transport, and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. He also highlighted the legislative guarantees and support measures provided by the Government of Kazakhstan to foreign investors and domestic producers, as well as the assistance offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to investors.

According to the Consul General, the annual festival plays an important role in strengthening both economic and cultural ties between the two countries. Taking into account the growing global demand for environmentally friendly food products, he invited food producers, processors, and distributors in Shaanxi Province to explore Kazakhstan’s investment opportunities and consider mutually beneficial partnerships.

Logistics hub and wholesale center initiative
The event also featured a proposal to establish a wholesale trading center for Kazakh products in Xi’an, making use of the Kazakhstan–China international dry port logistics hub implemented at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. It was noted that the logistics center is fully equipped and ready to provide comprehensive services to Kazakh producers.

AiJu’s support and weekly exhibitions
For its part, the management of the Chinese investment company AiJu expressed its readiness to expand the range of Kazakh products and provide broad support to Kazakh manufacturers. It was also noted with appreciation that the Consulate General offers administrative assistance within its mandate in facilitating export permits for small and medium-sized businesses, helping to establish partnerships between Kazakh producers and AiJu.

Following the forum, and at the initiative of the Consulate General, an agreement was reached with AiJu to organize weekly exhibitions of Kazakh products in major shopping centers across Xi’an.

Xi’an as a gateway to the Chinese market
As the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and a key hub of the modern China–Europe railway network, Xi’an offers additional opportunities for deeper access of Kazakh food products, mineral resources, and other high-quality goods to the Chinese market.
