Kazakhstan and Morocco are steadily strengthening their partnership, finding common ground not only in diplomacy and economics, but also in their shared vision of global dialogue and stability. This was clearly reflected during the meeting between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Morocco, Saulekul Sailaukzy, and Andre Azoulay, Senior Advisor to the King of Morocco on Economic Affairs and Dialogue of Civilizations, DKNews.kz reports.

The talks took place in a constructive and forward-looking atmosphere. Both sides noted the growing momentum in bilateral relations and the convergence of strategic interests between Astana and Rabat, signaling a shift toward deeper and more substantive cooperation.

Kazakhstan’s reforms draw international interest

During the meeting, Ambassador Sailaukzy briefed her counterpart on the large-scale constitutional reforms underway in Kazakhstan. These reforms were announced by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the fifth session of the National Kurultai and are aimed at modernizing the political system, strengthening democratic institutions and enhancing public participation in governance.

The Moroccan side showed strong interest in Kazakhstan’s reform agenda, viewing it as an example of pragmatic and balanced political modernization adapted to contemporary global challenges.

A global platform for interfaith dialogue

A key focus of the discussion was Kazakhstan’s role as an international hub for interfaith and inter-civilizational dialogue. Morocco highlighted Astana’s growing reputation as a neutral and trusted platform for bringing together religious and cultural leaders from around the world.

Ambassador Sailaukzy presented the outcomes of the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Astana in September 2025. She emphasized the importance of maintaining and expanding dialogue between civilizations at a time of rising global tensions and fragmentation, noting that cooperation between Kazakhstan and Morocco in this sphere carries particular symbolic and practical value.

Shared values in a divided world

Speaking with admiration about Kazakhstan, Andre Azoulay praised the country’s foreign policy course and its achievements in political modernization. He highlighted the pragmatic and well-balanced nature of the reforms being implemented and underscored the strong conceptual alignment between Astana and Rabat on key global issues.

According to the Royal Advisor, both countries share similar positions on peacebuilding, tolerance, and the promotion of dialogue between cultures and civilizations - principles that are becoming increasingly vital in today’s complex international environment.

New international initiatives, new opportunities

In this context, both sides agreed that Kazakhstan’s decision to join the Abraham Accords, as well as the recent accession of Kazakhstan and Morocco to the Board of Peace initiated by U.S. President Donald Trump, opens up new opportunities for strengthening comprehensive Kazakh-Moroccan cooperation.

These initiatives, the participants noted, go beyond symbolism and create practical frameworks for political engagement, trust-building and broader international collaboration.

Economy, logistics and investment on the agenda

Beyond political and humanitarian topics, the meeting also addressed concrete areas of bilateral cooperation. The parties discussed prospects for expanding political, trade and economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties, with an emphasis on practical outcomes.

Special attention was given to implementing agreements reached during the 2025 visits by Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister and the Speaker of the Mazhilis of Parliament. Priority areas include boosting bilateral trade, developing optimal intercontinental transport and logistics corridors, and launching joint investment projects that could give new momentum to economic cooperation.

The meeting in Morocco once again demonstrated that relations between Kazakhstan and Morocco are evolving beyond formal diplomacy toward a multifaceted partnership. Grounded in shared values and pragmatic interests, this dialogue has the potential to translate into tangible political and economic results in the years ahead - at a time when cooperation and mutual understanding are in especially high demand globally.
