Kazakhstan continues to steadily strengthen its European vector, moving beyond formal diplomacy toward pragmatic cooperation based on trade, investment, and long-term interests. This was clearly reflected during the latest round of political consultations held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Poland, DKNews.kz reports.

The talks demonstrated that relations between Astana and Warsaw are no longer limited to protocol dialogue. Instead, they are increasingly grounded in real economic indicators and shared strategic priorities.

Political dialogue with a practical focus

During the meeting, the parties discussed a broad range of issues, including political cooperation, trade and economic interaction, and cultural and humanitarian ties. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Arman Issetov emphasized that Kazakhstan views Poland as an important political and economic partner within the European Union and is interested in further expanding bilateral cooperation.

This message is particularly significant amid ongoing global uncertainty. Kazakhstan is clearly prioritizing stable and pragmatic partnerships in Europe - those capable of delivering tangible economic results alongside political dialogue.

Kazakhstan as Poland’s anchor in Central Asia

Poland’s position was equally clear. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Wojciech Zajączkowski described Kazakhstan as Poland’s key partner in Central Asia and expressed readiness to develop cooperation across all areas of mutual interest.

This signals Warsaw’s long-term interest in Kazakhstan not only as a regional leader, but also as a reliable gateway to broader Central Asian markets and infrastructure projects.

Trade and investment backed by numbers

The most substantive part of the discussions focused on trade and economic cooperation, where the figures speak for themselves.

In the first 11 months of 2025, bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and Poland reached 1.1 billion US dollars, marking a 6 percent increase. Exports amounted to 496.3 million US dollars, growing by 10.2 percent, while imports totaled 605.9 million US dollars, up by 2.7 percent.

Around 150 Polish companies currently operate in Kazakhstan, reflecting growing business confidence. Since 2005, the gross inflow of Polish investments into Kazakhstan has exceeded 600 million US dollars, underscoring Poland’s sustained economic presence in the country.

Where cooperation is headed next

Both sides identified energy, transport and logistics, agriculture, education, and IT as priority areas for future cooperation. These sectors are seen as natural growth drivers - combining Kazakhstan’s resource and transit potential with Poland’s technological expertise and access to European markets.

For Kazakhstan, this means deeper integration with European value chains. For Poland, it offers a chance to strengthen its footprint in Central Asia through concrete projects rather than political declarations.

Intergovernmental Commission and global agenda

The parties also reviewed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, which remains a key mechanism for advancing trade and economic cooperation and aligning joint initiatives.

In addition, diplomats exchanged views on current international and regional issues, reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation within multilateral frameworks and international organizations.

Kazakhstan and Poland are steadily moving from dialogue to delivery. With trade volumes growing, investment expanding, and political trust firmly in place, the partnership is taking on a more strategic and future-oriented shape - the kind of cooperation that matters most in today’s rapidly changing world.
