Kazakhstan and Kuwait are stepping up dialogue in one of the most dynamic areas of the global economy — digital technologies. In Kuwait City, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the State of Kuwait Yerzhan Yelekeyev met with Khaled Al-Zamel, Chairman of the Kuwait Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA). The talks focused on how the two countries can turn digital ambitions into practical cooperation, DKNews.kz reports.
The meeting showed clear interest on both sides in moving beyond general discussions and toward concrete interaction in digital transformation.
Digital agenda in focus
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral cooperation in digitalization, the development of information and communication technologies, artificial intelligence, e-government and digital public services. These areas are increasingly seen as key drivers of economic growth and government efficiency.
Kazakhstan presented its vision of a digital state, where technology simplifies interaction between citizens, business and government.
Kazakhstan shares its experience
Ambassador Yelekeyev briefed the Kuwaiti side on Kazakhstan’s priorities in digital transformation. He outlined the development of the national e-government ecosystem and spoke about initiatives in artificial intelligence and smart technologies that are being implemented across different sectors.
For Kazakhstan, digital solutions are not just about technology, but about building a more transparent, accessible and user-oriented public service system.

Interest from Kuwait
CITRA leadership expressed strong interest in studying Kazakhstan’s experience. The Kuwaiti side signaled readiness to establish practical cooperation, including expert-level interaction and exchange of best practices in digital regulation, smart solutions and public digital services.
Such cooperation could help both countries accelerate innovation and adapt successful models to their national needs.
Looking ahead to global coordination
The meeting also touched on the international dimension of digital cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts ahead of the 5th General Assembly of the Digital Cooperation Organization, which will take place in Kuwait on February 4–5.
This platform is seen as an opportunity to align approaches, share ideas and strengthen partnerships in the global digital economy.
Why it matters
The dialogue between Kazakhstan and Kuwait reflects a broader trend: digital technologies are becoming a central element of modern diplomacy. Cooperation in areas such as AI, e-government and smart technologies opens new opportunities for economic diversification, better public services and stronger international ties.
As both countries continue to invest in digital transformation, meetings like this one lay the groundwork for future joint projects — where technology becomes a bridge, not a barrier, between partners.
