Kazakhstan and Jordan are preparing to give new momentum to their bilateral relationship. This was discussed during a meeting between the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Jordan, Talgat Shaldanbay, and Muhammad Abu Wendi, Director of the Department of Asia and Oceania at Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, DKNews.kz reports.

During the talks, both sides expressed satisfaction with the high and dynamically developing level of Kazakh-Jordanian cooperation and confirmed their shared interest in further strengthening ties. The discussion focused not only on political dialogue, but also on practical steps to expand cooperation across a range of key sectors.

From agreements to concrete projects

Special attention was paid to the implementation of agreements previously reached at the level of the Heads of State. The parties emphasized the importance of translating political decisions into tangible results, particularly in trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation.

Among the priorities highlighted were the launch of direct air services between the two countries, which is seen as a catalyst for business contacts, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. The sides also discussed expanding cooperation in pharmaceuticals, the phosphate sector, transport infrastructure and digital technologies — areas with strong potential for mutually beneficial projects.

Political dialogue and multilateral cooperation

The meeting also underscored the need to further institutionalize political dialogue. In this context, the resumption of regular political consultations was identified as an important step toward maintaining close coordination and mutual understanding.

Ambassador Shaldanbay expressed gratitude to the Jordanian side for its constructive engagement within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. In particular, he noted the expected ratification by Jordan of the Charter of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, as well as Amman’s support for joint humanitarian initiatives. These include cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Global Initiative to Strengthen Political Commitment to International Humanitarian Law.

Looking ahead to 2026

The talks also covered plans to give the bilateral agenda more substantive content in the coming years. One of the key proposals discussed was holding a Trade Mission of Kazakhstan to Jordan in 2026. In addition, the sides considered the possibility of organizing inter-ministerial consultations between their foreign ministries, convening the next meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council, and implementing a range of joint activities, including cultural and humanitarian projects.

Shared commitment

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties confirmed their readiness to maintain regular contacts and close cooperation aimed at the steady and long-term development of Kazakh-Jordanian relations. The dialogue reflected a shared understanding that political goodwill, combined with concrete economic and humanitarian initiatives, can significantly strengthen the partnership between the two countries.
