Kazakhstan is gaining new visibility on the global tourism map. The European television network Euronews is preparing a new episode of its Modern Nomads program dedicated to the country’s winter tourism potential, with a special focus on the Almaty Mountain Cluster, DKNews.kz reports.
The episode is set to air in February and will be broadcast in 11 languages, reaching audiences in more than 160 countries around the world. For Kazakhstan, this is a rare opportunity to present itself to a truly global audience through a trusted international media platform.

Spotlight on the Almaty Mountain Cluster
At the heart of the program is the infrastructure and development of the Almaty Mountain Cluster - one of Kazakhstan’s key tourism projects. The Euronews production team visited Shymbulak, a ski resort that has become one of Central Asia’s most recognizable winter destinations.
Viewers will see:
- modern cable car systems
- ski slopes of varying difficulty levels
- tourism infrastructure facilities across the entire resort area
The episode highlights not only winter sports, but also comfort, accessibility and the overall visitor experience, positioning Almaty as a competitive winter destination on an international scale.
Nature that defines the region
Special attention is also given to the region’s natural landmarks. One of the visual highlights of the episode is Big Almaty Lake, one of the most iconic natural sites in the Almaty region. Snow-covered mountains, alpine landscapes and pristine winter scenery form an essential part of the story told about Kazakhstan’s natural appeal.

Gastronomy as part of the travel experience
Almaty’s gastronomic potential is presented through the Auyl restaurant, which has been included in the international 50 Best Discovery selection. The program introduces viewers to a modern interpretation of Kazakh national cuisine, combining traditional flavors with contemporary presentation.
By including gastronomy in the narrative, the episode presents Kazakhstan not only as a destination for nature and sports, but also as a place of culture, taste and atmosphere.
Joint effort behind the scenes
The filming and organization of the episode were supported by Kazakh Tourism, the Shymbulak ski resort, Ile-Alatau National Park and the Auyl restaurant. Their involvement made it possible to present the Almaty Mountain Cluster in a comprehensive way - from natural landscapes to infrastructure and service quality.
Why this matters
Euronews reaches more than 400 million viewers worldwide. Featuring Kazakhstan in a dedicated episode of Modern Nomads allows the country to speak directly to an international audience through storytelling rather than advertising.
The upcoming broadcast is expected to strengthen Kazakhstan’s image as an attractive winter tourism destination and draw greater international attention to the Almaty region. It is another step toward positioning the country not only as a place for business or transit, but as a modern, diverse and compelling destination for travel in all seasons.
