Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening allied relations following talks between the foreign ministers of the two countries in Bishkek, DKNews.kz reports.
As part of his official visit, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yermek Kosherbayev met with his Kyrgyz counterpart Zheenbek Kulubaev to discuss a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues.

Political trust as a foundation
During the negotiations, the Kazakh Foreign Minister stressed that thanks to the political will of the heads of state, relations between the two countries have reached a qualitatively new level.

“Following reciprocal high-level visits, a clear vector for further strengthening the fraternal Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations has been set. On our part, we intend to make every effort to work jointly on the comprehensive development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan in the spirit of enduring friendship and good-neighborliness,” Kosherbayev said.
Zheenbek Kulubaev, in turn, confirmed the steady and progressive development of allied relations based on the principles of brotherhood and mutual respect.
Trade and investment cooperation growing
The ministers reviewed practical steps to implement agreements reached at the highest level in recent years and expressed readiness to continue strengthening ties through intergovernmental cooperation.
Kosherbayev emphasized that Kazakhstan remains among the three largest trading partners of Kyrgyzstan.
Key economic indicators include:
- Mutual trade has reached about 2 billion US dollars
- The countries aim to increase trade turnover to 3 billion dollars
- Diversification of commodity trade is planned
- Interregional links are expanding
A major focus is the planned creation of a cross-border Industrial Trade and Logistics Complex, expected to generate a strong multiplier effect across bilateral cooperation.
The Kazakh minister also noted that over the past two decades, Kazakhstani investments in Kyrgyzstan have totaled about 1.4 billion US dollars. Both sides expressed interest in expanding investment cooperation, particularly in:
- Energy
- Transport and logistics
- Agriculture
Cultural and humanitarian ties remain strong
A separate part of the talks focused on cultural and humanitarian cooperation, seen as the foundation of long-term relations between the two brotherly peoples.

The ministers noted the high level of cultural exchange, including:
- Days of Kazakh Cinema held in Kyrgyzstan
- The 3rd Kazakh-Kyrgyz Youth Forum
- Opening of the “Golden Bridge” monument in Bishkek
- The premiere in Kazakhstan of the musical “Jamila,” based on the work of Chingiz Aitmatov
- Days of Kyrgyz Cinema held in Astana earlier this year
Cooperation on global platforms
The ministers also exchanged views on current regional and international issues and reaffirmed their commitment to close coordination within multilateral organizations.
They confirmed readiness to cooperate within:
- The United Nations
- Regional cooperation frameworks
- Joint international initiatives
Continued strategic dialogue
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their readiness to further strengthen inter-ministerial cooperation, including through the Council of Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

The talks demonstrated that Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan continue to build a comprehensive allied partnership based on political trust, economic integration, and shared cultural ties.
