Kazakhstan is strengthening its partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme as part of its growing international environmental agenda, DKNews.kz reports.
A meeting was held at UNEP headquarters between Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Kenya and Permanent Representative to the UN Office at Nairobi Barlybay Sadykov and UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen.
Key topics of discussion
The talks focused on current and future cooperation between Kazakhstan and UNEP.

International Water Organization initiative highlighted
Special attention during the meeting was given to Kazakhstan’s proposal to create an International Water Organization within the UN system.
The initiative was put forward by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in December 2025.
The proposed organization aims to:
