President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received the credentials of eight newly appointed ambassadors during an official ceremony held at the Akorda Presidential Palace, DKNews.kz reports.
The diplomats officially beginning their missions in Kazakhstan represent Norway, Argentina, Ghana, Mali, The Gambia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ambassadors starting diplomatic missions in Kazakhstan
Credentials were presented by:
- Helene Sand Andresen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway
- Enrique Ignacio Ferrer Vieyra, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic
- Koma Steem Jehu Appiah, Ambassador of the Republic of Ghana
- Seydou Kamissoko, Ambassador of the Republic of Mali
- Alkali Fanka Conteh, Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia
- Md. Nazrul Islam, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh
- Shobini Gunasekera, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka
- Ivan Orlić, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The ceremony marks the official start of their diplomatic work in Kazakhstan.
President outlines Kazakhstan’s development priorities
During the meeting, Tokayev briefed the ambassadors on Kazakhstan’s socio-economic and political development agenda.
“Our economy, despite some challenges and difficulties, is nevertheless the most successful and robust in our part of the world, and at least the biggest one. But we are not complacent. We are carrying out economic reforms,” the President said.
He also informed diplomats about the upcoming national referendum scheduled for March 15 on the draft of a new Constitution.
According to Tokayev, the proposed constitutional reform is expected to:
- strengthen democratic institutions
- modernize the political system
- support economic reforms
- advance the country’s long-term development
The President expressed confidence that the new Constitution could lay a strong foundation for further democratization and modernization.

Commitment to peaceful diplomacy
Tokayev also reiterated Kazakhstan’s commitment to a peace-oriented foreign policy.
He stressed that disagreements and conflicts in the modern world should be resolved exclusively through diplomacy and peaceful dialogue.
The Head of State also expressed solidarity with Gulf countries and voiced hope for the swift resolution of ongoing regional conflicts.

Strengthening international dialogue
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Tokayev wished the newly appointed ambassadors success in their diplomatic missions and expressed confidence that their work would contribute to expanding cooperation between Kazakhstan and their respective countries.
Analysts note that such ceremonies reflect Kazakhstan’s active diplomatic engagement and its commitment to maintaining constructive relations with partners across different regions of the world.
