Baku hosted high-level talks between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, signaling a new phase in bilateral relations, DKNews.kz reports.
During an official visit, Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov to discuss key areas of cooperation and future priorities.
Relations reach a new level
The talks confirmed that ties between the two countries have significantly strengthened in recent years.

“Thanks to the political will of our heads of state over the past three years Kazakh-Azerbaijani relations have been elevated to a qualitatively new level of engagement”, Minister Kosherbayev emphasized.
This reflects a broader trend of deeper integration between countries in the Caspian region, especially in trade, logistics and energy.
Trade, energy and transport in focus
The meeting covered a wide range of cooperation areas.
Key priorities discussed:
- political and diplomatic cooperation
- trade and economic ties
- energy partnership
- transit and transport connectivity
- cultural and humanitarian interaction
Trade remains one of the fastest-growing areas.
According to the ministers:
- mutual trade increased fivefold over the past five years
- reached 470.7 million dollars in 2025
- target set to increase turnover to 1 billion dollars

Strategic infrastructure projects
Special attention was given to major joint infrastructure initiatives.
Among them:
- Trans-Caspian International Transport Route
- fiber-optic communication line across the Caspian Sea
- deep-sea power cable project
These projects are critical for strengthening regional connectivity and positioning both countries as key transit hubs between Asia and Europe.
Energy transit and investment cooperation
Kazakhstan continues to expand routes for exporting its energy resources through Azerbaijan.
At the same time, cooperation is developing in:

The growing role of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani Direct Investment Fund was also emphasized, indicating a shift toward long-term joint investment projects.
Cultural ties and tourism growth
Beyond economics, both sides highlighted strong progress in cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

- successful Culture Days held in both countries
- expansion of educational exchanges
- reciprocal Days of Higher Education
- growth in tourism and mobility
Currently, around 30 flights operate weekly between cities of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, reflecting increasing people-to-people connections.

The ministers also exchanged views on regional and global issues.
They reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation within international platforms, including:
- the United Nations
- the Organization of Turkic States
- CICA
- the CIS
- the OIC
- the Caspian Summit
