Ambassador of Kazakhstan Margulan Baimukhan visited Luxembourg on a working trip, where he separately met with the Head of the Directorate for Foreign Trade and Investment Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy, Pierre Ferring, the Head of the Directorate for Tourism of the Ministry of Tourism Jeanne Tonnar, the Director of the European and International Affairs Department of the Ministry of Culture Barbara Zeches, and also spoke with the Head of the International Relations at the Luxembourg Parliament, Tania Tennina, DKnews.kz reports.
At the meeting with Ferring, the parties discussed the positive dynamics of bilateral relations in the fields of trade and investment. The important role of Luxembourg as one of the significant investors in the economy of Kazakhstan was also emphasized.
The Luxembourg diplomat highlighted the important role of Kazakhstan in Central Asia and underlined the high potential of the Kazakh economy in areas such as transport, green energy, and other sectors. Ferring particularly noted Luxembourg’s interest in expanding mutually beneficial relations between the business entities of the two countries.
During the meeting with representatives from the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism of Luxembourg, the possibilities of jointly organizing cultural events in Kazakhstan and Luxembourg were discussed, as well as cooperation within the framework of international organizations. Special attention was given to the potential for implementing joint initiatives in digitalization, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), active tourism, and more.
Representatives of the Luxembourg side expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in the fields of culture and tourism, and expressed their readiness to assist in organizing Kazakh-Luxembourg events.
The conversation with Tania Tennina focused on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation between the two countries. An agreement was reached to work on the exchange of visits between the parliamentarians of the two countries.
In the first nine months of 2024, the volume of direct foreign investments from Luxembourg to Kazakhstan reached 472.3 million US dollars.
