Estonian President Alar Karis spoke at a special evening event at the Astana Opera, saying his official visit to Kazakhstan left a strong and positive impression on him and his delegation. He highlighted the importance of cultural ties in the relationship between Estonia and Kazakhstan, DKNews.kz reports.

“Tonight we are celebrating the friendship between Estonia and Kazakhstan through music. Music is an essential part of our culture and identity,” Karis said.

According to him, he, his wife Sirje, and the entire delegation felt exceptionally welcomed throughout their stay.

“We were met with genuine warmth. Moments like these stay with you for a long time. I want to thank President Tokayev for the hospitality, and on behalf of our whole delegation, express gratitude to all our Kazakh colleagues and government representatives who helped organize this visit,” he added.

Estonia Donates a Piano to a School in Arkalyk

During the event, Karis also shared that an Estonian company had donated a piano to a school in the city of Arkalyk. The instrument was crafted according to nearly two centuries of Estonian piano-making tradition.

“Very soon, roughly 670 kilometers from the capital, this instrument will fill a school with its sound. For us, it symbolizes that the melody of friendship between Estonia and Kazakhstan resonates not only in Astana but also beyond it,” Karis said.

The piano will support the school’s creative activities and give students an opportunity to explore music with a high-quality instrument.

Culture That Brings Countries Closer

Karis’s remarks at the Astana Opera became one of the key moments of his visit to Kazakhstan. The evening underscored how cultural initiatives can strengthen international relations just as effectively as formal agreements.

Music, sincere words of gratitude, and attention to regional communities created a warm atmosphere of mutual respect. Estonia and Kazakhstan continue to build their partnership not only through diplomacy and economics but also through cultural exchange.
