AI solutions for security and public safety
Taking into account the participating companies’ experience of working with Hong Kong law enforcement agencies, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong SAR Bauyrzhan Dosmanbetov outlined the areas where Kazakhstan sees the greatest potential for cooperation.
He informed the Hong Kong partners of Kazakhstan’s interest in implementing AI-based solutions in security systems, including facial recognition technologies, as well as tools to combat cybercrime and drug trafficking in the country’s regions. These areas are viewed as key elements of Kazakhstan’s broader digital transformation agenda.
Data centers and growing interest in Kazakhstan
Infrastructure development was another major topic of the meeting. Representatives of Huazhi Future presented their data centers that have already been commissioned in Chongqing, Hangzhou and Shenzhen in mainland China.
Against the backdrop of rapidly growing global demand for computing power, the CEO of Huazhi Future expressed interest in building data centers in Kazakhstan. Such projects could strengthen the country’s position as a regional digital hub and support the development of artificial intelligence, cloud services and data-driven industries.

2026: a year focused on digitalization and AI
The participants also highlighted the importance of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s initiative to declare 2026 the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence in Kazakhstan. This decision signals the country’s intention to accelerate technological development and attract international expertise.
In this context, Consul General Dosmanbetov expressed interest in organizing joint events, including hackathons and startup presentations. These formats could provide a platform for exchanging ideas, showcasing innovative solutions and building direct connections between Kazakh and Hong Kong technology companies.
Practical experience from Pavlodar
Special attention was given to the work of OMIS Inc., an IT company that develops digital solutions for both government and business. For several years, the company has been working closely with the Pavlodar Regional Prosecutor’s Office and regional law enforcement agencies, applying technology in the field of law and order and demonstrating how digital tools can deliver real results in practice.
Toward concrete projects
The meeting at the Consulate General underscored a shared interest in moving from dialogue to concrete cooperation. Artificial intelligence, data centers and digital security were identified as promising areas where Kazakhstan and Hong Kong can build long-term partnerships.
As Kazakhstan prepares for 2026 as a landmark year for digitalization and artificial intelligence, such international contacts are expected to play an increasingly important role in shaping the country’s technological future and strengthening its position in the global digital economy.
