Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev participated in a meeting of Central Asian and United Kingdom foreign ministers held under the “Central Asia + UK” (CA5+UK) framework, DKNews.kz reports.
The discussions focused on strengthening regional cooperation, expanding economic ties, and promoting connectivity between Central Asia and global markets.
Focus on trade, investment, and connectivity
Participants addressed a wide range of issues related to economic development and regional cooperation.
Key priorities included:
- expanding trade and investment partnerships
- strengthening regional connectivity
- developing international transport corridors
- supporting sustainable economic growth
Officials noted that cooperation in these areas is essential for unlocking the region’s long-term economic potential.
Kazakhstan’s strategic role in regional transport
In his remarks, Kosherbayev emphasized Kazakhstan’s central role in Eurasian connectivity.
“Kazakhstan plays a central role in regional connectivity. Thirteen major transit corridors pass through our territory, and around 85 percent of overland cargo transport between Europe and Asia moves through Kazakhstan,” he said.
He added that the CA5+UK format reflects these strategic priorities and provides a platform for practical cooperation.
According to the minister, Kazakhstan views the United Kingdom as a long-term partner committed to achieving tangible results that benefit economies and societies across the region.
UK highlights Central Asia’s growing importance
UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper described Central Asia as a rapidly developing region with increasing global relevance.

She noted that the countries of the region are strengthening cooperation, enhancing connectivity, and expanding their participation in international economic and political processes.
Participants also discussed how to align Central Asia’s resource and transit potential with the UK’s strengths in:
- finance and investment expertise
- regulatory standards
- technological innovation
- higher education cooperation
Platform for structured dialogue
Central Asian foreign ministers praised the CA5+UK framework as an effective mechanism for structured and results-oriented engagement.
They emphasized that the format has already demonstrated its value in facilitating comprehensive discussions on regional priorities while creating opportunities for implementing joint projects.

Analysts say such dialogue platforms are increasingly important as Central Asia seeks to strengthen its global economic integration and diversify international partnerships.
