Media cooperation is moving into a practical phase. Kazakhstan and Pakistan intend to deepen direct contacts between journalists and implement the agreements reached during Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s state visit in February, DKNews.kz reports.
Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, met with Murtaza Solangi, Spokesperson to the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Media cooperation emerges as a separate track
One of the main topics of the talks was stronger engagement between the media communities of Kazakhstan and Pakistan.
The two sides discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for its further development, with particular attention to interaction between media organizations in both countries.
Yerzhan Kistafin thanked Murtaza Solangi for his support and contribution to building ties between Kazakh and Pakistani media.
No specific new media projects, joint programs or launch dates were announced following the meeting. The focus was on continuing the work already underway and implementing previously signed agreements in practice.
More than 70 documents followed Tokayev’s visit
The latest meeting has a broader political context.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev paid his first state visit to Pakistan on February 3–4, 2026. One of the key outcomes was the adoption of a joint declaration establishing a strategic partnership.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the two sides signed more than 70 agreements and memorandums during the visit, including commercial agreements.
In addition, 32 commercial documents worth $189.8 million were signed in finance, logistics, industry, energy, agriculture, digital services and infrastructure.
Within this broader package of agreements, media cooperation is now becoming one of the areas where the two sides are seeking to turn signed documents into practical work.

Islamabad and Astana move toward implementation
Since the February visit, implementation of the agreements has become a recurring topic in meetings held by Kazakhstan’s diplomatic mission in Islamabad.
In June, the sides discussed the implementation of trade, economic and investment agreements, while in July the same issue was raised during Yerzhan Kistafin’s meeting with the Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly.
Practical results have already appeared in some sectors. In July, the first Kazakhstan-Pakistan artificial intelligence center began operating in Pakistan under agreements on digital cooperation.
The same approach is now being applied to the information sector through direct engagement between the media communities of the two countries.
Media becomes part of the strategic partnership
For Kazakhstan and Pakistan, information cooperation goes beyond coverage of official visits. Direct contacts between newsrooms and journalists can support a growing bilateral agenda that includes the economy, transport, education, technology and culture.
Following the latest meeting, the two sides set a clear near-term task: to continue joint work on the practical implementation of the agreements and memorandums signed in February.
DKNews.kz previously reported on what Kazakhstan and Pakistan agreed in Islamabad and how the strategic partnership was formalized at the highest level. The political framework was established in February; the focus is now shifting toward implementing agreements in specific areas, including media cooperation.
