One of the streets in Amman is named in honor of Abai

Culminating the series of cultural events of Kazakhstan’s Embassy in Jordan in commemoration of 175th anniversary of the Great Kazakh poet and enlightener Abai Kunanbaiuly, the opening ceremony of Abai street took place in Amman on December 30, 2020.

In his speech, Ambassador Aidarbek Toumatov noted that the assignment of the name of Abai to one of the central streets of the Jordanian capital is another confirmation of friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Jordan, as well as evidence of the high level of cooperation between the sister cities - Nur-Sultan and Amman.

In turn, the Chairman of the local community of Zahran District Mr. Ismail Al Bustanji  noted that today's event is a tribute to Abai’s high literary skill, who is a bright representative of the friendly Kazakh people.

In May 2010, by the decree of King Abdullah II of Jordan, one of the central streets of Amman was named after the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev. In December 2018, the opening ceremony of Astana street took place in the Jordanian capital.

Nur-Sultan also has a street named after the Jordanian capital Amman. Moreover, on July 27, 2017, as part of Jordan's national day at the EXPO-2017 international exhibition, the official opening ceremony of King Hussein bin Talal Street was held.
