On June 21, the first meeting of the Working Group (Informal Virtual Commercial Dialogue) on trade and economic cooperation in the field of rare earth metals between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States of America was held, Delovoy Kazakhstan reports.
Representatives of the Department of Commerce headed by US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia David S. De Falco, as well as representatives of the State Department and the US Geological Survey attended the meeting from the American side.
The Kazakh side was attended by the heads of the Ministries of Industry and Infrastructure Development, Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources, as well as national companies headed by the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan K. Torebaev.
During the meeting, the possibility of cooperation between Kazakhstani and American businesses in the field of mining and processing of rare earth metals in Kazakhstan was discussed.
In his speech, K. Torebaev noted the importance of the subject of the meeting.
“There is no doubt that Kazakhstan is well positioned to become an important player in this market. In order to integrate Kazakhstan into the global market of high-tech products produced using rare earth metals, we are interested in exporting finished products from rare earth metals and access to American technologies for their processing,” said the Vice Minister.
As a result of the 1st meeting of the Working Group, an agreement was reached on the extraction and processing of rare and rare earth metals in Kazakhstan using American technology.
It should be noted that in Kazakhstan, for the development of the industry, a Roadmap was approved to expand the resource base and organize the production of rare and rare earth metals until 2025.
