Delegation of Pennsylvania State University visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University with a working visit, which familiarized with the scientific infrastructure of the educational institution, DKNews.kz reports.
The working group headed by Sabine Clare, Interim Vice Provost of Penstate University, met with Mr. Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Board - Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The meeting focused on strengthening work in science and education and expanding connections between scholars.
The delegation included Stephen Barnes, Deputy Dean for International Programs at Penstate University Law School, Alexandra Persiko, Interim Director for Global Partnerships, Vlad Likholetov, Deputy Director for Agreements and Partnerships in Central Asia, Samgat Ermekbaev, Head of the “My Profession - My Future” project, and other representatives of the University.
Zhanseit Tuimebayev noted that the visit of the delegation of the U.S. higher education institution is of particular importance in terms of determining the prospects for the development of relations between the two countries.
"Today, cooperation between the two universities on programs of higher education and academic mobility is successfully developing. This year during the working trip to the USA we visited the University of Pennsylvania and familiarized ourselves with its activities. We held a number of meetings on the development of partnership between the two universities. I believe that your visit to KazNU will give a new impetus to the further development of relations” Zhanseit Tuimebayev
At the end of his speech the head of the university emphasized that it is necessary to strengthen inter-university ties in the field of science and IT.
"KazNU and Penstate University have high scientific potential. Therefore, I propose to create a joint scientific center. This will strengthen the relationship of scientists and share experience" Zhanseit Tuimebayev
In turn, Sabine Clare thanked the leadership and staff of KazNU for the attention and expressed support for the initiative of Zhanseit Tuimebayev to bring bilateral relations to a new level.
"Al-Farabi KazNU is the leading higher education institution in Kazakhstan. The University of Pennsylvania is among the leading universities in the United States. I am confident that the two universities will be able to jointly implement large-scale projects” Sabine Clare
Following the talks, Zhanseit Tuimebayev and Sabine Claire agreed to intensify partnership and jointly organize international events.
